Smart Energy Conference 2024

The Smart Energy Conference 2024 is taking place on Thursday 24 October at Belfast's ICC, featuring a vibrant mix of thought-provoking keynote addresses, engaging panel discussions, and networking opportunities with industry leaders.

The theme for this year is “Ten to Net Zero” and will look at what needs to happen over the next decade to achieve a net zero electricity system by 2035.

From planning timelines, grid development and creating NI’s offshore wind industry, major reforms are needed to meet the legal obligation of 80% renewable electricity generation by 2030.  As we race towards this deadline, decissions made now will have long-term inpact on ensuring Northern Ireland’s electricity system becomes a net zero carbon emissions leader.

Our True Passion - Connecting industry and policy

The International Energy Agency (IEA) states that all advanced economies must achieve zero carbon electricity by 2035. This is now reflected in UK Government policy.
Northern Ireland has one of the greatest wind resources in the world and is well positioned to meet this target.

Smart Energy explores the high level actions that will be required to achieve net zero in ten years.  At the heart of this is achieving the Climate Act target of 80% renewable electricity by 2030.
