HYRO supports and promotes businesses electrifying their processes where possible – we see this as our best chance of rapid decarbonisation and the best use of the green power that our joint venture partners work hard to create. There are many industrial processes that are difficult to electrify and HYRO is excited about the role green hydrogen can play and wants to work with businesses to support their decarbonisation journey. This aligns with the UK's wider decarbonisation ambitions as HM Government is targeting 10 GW of low hydrogen capacity built by 2030, with at least 5GW of that target being green.

Dolphyn Hydrogen is an independent business progressing the commercialisation of the Dolphyn Green Hydrogen Technology Innovation. Over the last 5 years, the Dolphyn concept has been developed by ERM Group with support and funding from the UK Government. Dolphyn Hydrogen is working with governments, supply chains, energy companies and more, to seek deployment of the Dolphyn process in waters around the UK and further afield. 

The innovative Dolphyn process combines offshore wind power, electrolysis and seawater desalination on a floating wind platform to produce green hydrogen at scale without need for electrical grid connection. Dolphyn is looking ahead to technology trials in 2023 and deployment of a commercial scale demonstrator in Aberdeen in 2025.
