Barney is Director, Future Electricity Systems at RenewableUK, where he leads work on creating a smart and flexible electricity system, based on renwable generation. He is passionate about the low carbon energy transition, and previously headed up RenewableUK’s policy and regulatory team, covering energy markets, environmental and network regulation. Prior to joining the team at RenewableUK he was part of the energy and climate change team at the CBI, where he led work on energy costs, supply side policy and international climate change, representing British business at the Paris COP.

Mark Howitt is Chief Technical Officer and co-founder of Storelectric, focusing on technologically simple solutions using proven technologies wherever possible. A United Nations (UNECE) expert in energy transition technologies, economics, regulation and politics – invitation here. Member of the UK advisory team to the IEA (International Energy Agency). Member of the Energy Storage Steering Group of the Renewable Energy AssociationA Physicist with 12 years’ management and innovation consultancy experience world-wide, Mark developed 3 profitable and successful subsidiaries based on his innovative technology and services. In electronics manufacturing, he developed and commercialised 5 product ranges and helped 2 businesses grow strategically.

 

Dr. Marek Kubik, Managing Director – UK, Ireland & Israel, FluenceMarek Kubik

 Marek is a founding member and managing director of energy storage technology company Fluence.  He leads Fluence’s UK, Ireland & Israel team where he is responsible for overseeing the origination, development and commercial negotiation of energy storage technology and services sales.  Marek has over a decade of experience in cleantech, including an instrumental role in delivering Europe’s first grid scale commercial battery storage project in 2015.  A prominent energy industry influencer and thought leader, he was also named in 2017 a Forbes 30 Under 30 honouree, a list that recognises “the world’s most inspiring young innovators, bright rising stars and the leaders of tomorrow”.

 

Alicja Kowalewska-Montfort, PriAlicja Kowalewska Montfort photoncipal - Energy Storage, Gore Street Capital

 Alicja is a Principal with Gore Street Capital. She heads up the Technical Team overseeing the development, construction and operation of the Gore Street Fund portfolio including the route to market strategy. She holds MSc from Cranfield University in Renewable Energy Technology and Process Systems Engineering. Previously she worked at Origami Energy and RES where she focused on battery storage technology and route to market aspects of energy storage.

 

James Lam, UK Electric Vehicle Manager and Energy Storage Consultant, DNVJames Lam photo

James is the UK Electric Vehicle Manager and an Energy Storage consultant at DNV.  He leads the techno-economic feasibility and modelling workfor a range of battery storage and EV projects. He is also the product owner and technical lead for a number of DNV’s software tools including Battery AI and the Fast Feasibility Tool. Battery AI is a proprietary battery degradation model based on accelerated lifetime test data and the Fast Feasibility Tool is a customer facing website for high level solar and storage modelling. James has a Master’s in Physics from Oxford University and prior to joining DNV was a researcher investigating storage in the future of the energy system. He was also part of a start-up developing battery storage, EV, Vehicle to Grid, and Peer to Peer trading technology.
